Management Sciences have been related to economic field. In fact, it could be implemented in all sciences. The management sciences also possess merits for human life.
The aforementioned paragraph was uttered by Dr. Zainal Abidin Mohamed from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) as a keynote speaker in an International Conference of Management Sciences (ICoMS). The conference had a theme “The Rule of Management Sciences for Benefit on the People.” It was organized by Department of Management Sciences of Economic Faculty of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Thursday (23/4). It was conducted to welcome ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015 and as event series of UMY’s 34th Anniversary.
Dr. Zainal Abidin elucidated on his remark that management sciences are fruitful for human life. One of the advantages is that all people’s need could be managed well as need of health, food, life style, and job. “The implementation of management sciences in life would be very beneficial since all aspects could be arranged well by the sciences. If this life is not organized by management sciences, there would be impacts on human life like productivity of human resources would be oriented inhumane work,” he stated.
Dr. Zainal also conveyed that, if humansareonly oriented to money, they would work excessively. As the result, they could not consider that they still have emotions and principles to fight for. “Emotions and principles are essential to concerning because all what they do based on the emotions and principles ought to be responsible to God hereafter,” he emphasized.
He also asserted that management sciences could be applied in a nation in order to avoid various alliances to demand unfairness. It could also evoke riots threatening a nation. “Therefore, the solution is the availability of communication, agreement, and obvious commitment among communities to achieve the goal. It also needs to implement management sciences in all life aspects,” he mentioned.
Furthermore, Dr. Retno Widiowati, P.A., M.Si., Department Head of Management Sciences said that the seminar was organized to foster sciences, particularly in management field. For one reason, management sciences always develop each year and need development and novelty. “International seminar and conference are our contribution to this nation dealing with facing world changes entering free markets and reinforcing competitiveness among developing countries,” he conveyed.
Additionally, ICoMS is an international seminar cooperating with University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Tamkang University Taiwan, and Khon Kan University Thailand. The participants were from domestic and overseas lecturers, students, and practitioners. The total was 250 participants.
Besides seminar, the conference agenda was presentations and discussion of participants submitting papers. There were 28 selected and presented papers out of 40 submitted papers.
