Six teams of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) joined Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (PIMNAS) 31. The teams were departed by Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. on Tuesday (28/8) at Rector’s Lobby.
The teams competed with the other 440 teams from 136 universities on 28 August – 2 September at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). “I see high enthusiasm to win the PIMNAS even though you look exhausted. I hope that all of your efforts are paid off by Allah and you can achieve gold medals,” declared Gunawan.
Gunawan told that UMY entirely supported the teams. “You are independent students and take actions with your strengths. I notice the vigor that you will always attempt to give your best for UMY although you are not subsidized by government and other people. UMY promises you 10 million rupiahs for teams obtaining gold medals, 7.5 million rupiahs for teams gaining silver medals, and 5 million rupiahs for teams getting bronze medals. We also add 25 million rupiahs if you can pass to top ten, and 50 million rupiah if you are included in top 5,” informed Gunawan.
Meanwhile, at PIMNAS 31, UMY possessed the higher percentage to pass. “Proposals of 25 teams of UMY were funded and they joined a monitoring and evaluation session. Alhamdulillah, 6 of 25 teams passed to PIMNAS and it shows the highest percentage among Indonesian universities,” explained Head of Student and Alumni Development Office (LPKA) of UMY Muhammad Faris Alfadhats, Ph.D.
Additionally, a representative of the teams Sri Puji Hapsari thanked UMY for the support. “Alhamdulillah, we have prepared for PIMNAS for months. We are grateful for the support so that we can depart to the PIMNAS today. We expect that we can give our best and win the PIMNAS,” she expressed.
