25 teams of Indonesia Fire Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI) for walking division were ready to compete in elimination round conducted on Saturday (13/6) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).
A committee of KRPAI for walking division Lugina Qolby informed that there would be 6 rounds: round 1, round 2, round 3, quarter final round, semifinal round, and final round. “All teams would compete in round 1, 2, and 3. Then, the scores of the three rounds would be accumulated to decide which teams achieve the highest point,” she stated.
Before entering the arena, each team has to do robot dimension checking, layout venue lottery of the contest, and sound activation checking. “The steps of checking aim at checking robot condition, whether or not the robot is in line with the requirement,” she inserted.
Chief of Umpires of KRPAI for walking division Izzati Muhimmah, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. mentioned that several violations might decrease points as fighting fire of the opponent’s area, fighting fire out of net, overthrowing candles, and passing dolls. “Each violation will reduce points and the reduction is different from each violation,” she asserted.
In the first round, there was a team fighting 5 fires, namely Eilerodari of Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS) leaded by Hanif Komarudin. “Alhamdulillah in the first round we could fight 5 candles even though our robot had encountered sensor device problem,” he told.
Hanif added that his team would not be self-satisfied with the yield of round 1, and we would always attempt till the final and achieve the winner. “We would try as hard as possible to win this competition,” he ended.
