Winning Indonesia ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) of Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) in June 2015, a team of Bandung Institute of Technology represents Indonesia in ABU Robocon 2015 held on Sunday (23/8) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).
The team has prepared for the biggest robot contest in Asia-Pacific. Chief of the team Restu Ikhsanul Fikri in an interview on Saturday (22/8) mentioned his team’s preparations like brainstorming of robot concepts, deciding robot design, and making robot prototype. “We have prepared since August last year. Our main focus is on software changing several times, and we have also had a number of trials to predict the robot condition in the contest arena,” he told.
Restu inserted that his team also had non technical preparation carried out by Agung Nuza Dwiputra, Rendy Wandarosanza, Eko Budi Satrio, Fanny Achmad Hindrarta, and Raga Adiguna. “The non technical preparations aimed at interweaving the relationship among the members. We also had gathering night which the schedule was dealing with preparations for this competition,” he asserted.
Restu expected that his team may not confront any obstacles in the arena. “We wish that our robot would not get trouble during the game since we found a problem in the sensor system in several trials,” he hoped.
Furthermore, ITB has joined KRAI since 2007, but this institution could just pass to ABU Robocon representing Indonesia in 2015. “My team and I are proud of representing Indonesia in this robot contest. I wish that we can win this contest and bear name of Indonesia as the host as well as ITB,” he expected.
Being asked regarding tough rivals, Rifki conveyed that all teams are quite strong and they will do the best for their own country. “All teams have their own strengths, yet I think that the strongest opponents are from China and Japan because technology quality of both countries is misdoubted,” he stated. Nevertheless, his team remained optimistic about being the winner of the ABU Asia-Pacific Robocon 2015.
