Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (NA) is one of the Muhammadiyah-independent organizations will organize the 13th NA Congress at Universitas Muhamamdiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on 25-28 August 2016.
In NA Congress 13 logo launching on Sunday (17/4) at meeting hall of DPD DIY, chairperson of NA, Norma Sari stated that the 13th congress would focus on the issues of women. “The issues of women, particularly violence, are high. Public hospitality towards women is deficient,” she argued.
The congress is expected to be able to raise public awareness of women’s rights in society. “The congress may represent women’s contribution to this nation to diminish poverty and other social issues. Public should believe that women contribute to confronting ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and global challenges. Indonesia need women’s contribution so that this natation can develop and have high competitiveness,” Norma stated.
She also contended that Indonesian women should think and act for their nation. “Indonesian women should believe that they can make changes and development in reducing the issues of women and the nation,” she maintained.
Both domestic and public contribution of NA members is not a burden for them. “Women are supposed to be able to undertake their domestic and public responsibilities. Indeed, as NA members, they should be able to foster their organization and to redeem women from oppression. Women are neither under control of men nor dominion over men, but women are the partners of men,” she claimed.
Besides, Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah, Agung Danarto conveyed that Muhammadiyah sees that women are distinguished partners, but they may not neglect their responsibility to their family. “To make changes and to develop this nation, women’s roles are essential, but they may not overlook their responsibility to their family. Hence, the NA congress may create a great family and may contribute to the nation development,” he wished.
