Pembacaan pokok pikiran KNIB

Muhammadiyah’s National Convention conducted since Monday (23/5) was officially closed on Thursday (24/5) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The convention was a forum of cross-groups, professions, interfaith, and cross-cultures. It aimed at contemplating ideas, experiences, and idealism to turn Indonesia to be a developed, equitable, prosperous, and dignified nation.

The convention revealed six main notions as mentioned by Drs. H. A. Dahlan Rais, M.Hum. “First, Indonesia is a home of the citizens established on behalf of values and lofty goals of 1945 so that all of the people obligate to foster this nation with leadership changes, rational-constructive public culture, effectively and productively democratic-civilized politics, and highly competitive economy. Second, Indonesian people should work hard, smartly, creatively, innovatively and confidently to cope with issues of social discrepancy, politics, corruption, violence, morals, crime, and low competitiveness,” he stated.

Third, politics should be encouraged by value, ethic, and trust-based democratic consolidation to reinforce good governance, clean government, and meritocracy so that it will bear tough regional and national leadership that serves and prioritize the nation’s interest over personal interests, parties, and religion and cultural primordialism.

Fourth, in law and government, all state officials and the people mush obey the established law. Muhammmadiyah’s national convention believes that it is essential to undertake the fifth amendment of UUD 1945, particularly dealing with state policy, status, arrangement, and function of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the House of Representatives (DPR). Empowerment of Pancasila as the official philosophical foundation of Indonesia and a source of values as well as ethics will guide and unite Indonesian people to achieve national goals as written on preamble of UUD 1945,” Dahlan said.

Fifth, Indonesian people need ‘revolusi mental’ (mental revolution) and cultural revolution as a requirement to have strong and lofty characters in developing this nation. Last, Indonesia entails strong social political life based on the unity of Indonesia, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) and vision to bring Indonesia to be a strong and civilized nation.

The six notions of the convention would be handed to governments as the recommendation to overcome the nation’s issues.
