UMY Becomes the Host of National Electromedical Week 2017

A three-year program of Electromedical Engineering of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) became the host of National Electromedical Week (PENA) 2017. It was officially opened by Governor of Yogyakarta represented by the senior staff of Social and Cultural Office Dr. Bayu Haryana, M.Si. and Vice Rector II of Academic Affairs Dr. Ir. Sukamta, M.T., IPM on Saturday (22/4).

Chief of PENA 2017 Berlianto Cahyadi (a student of batch 2015) informed that the event was conducted under the theme ‘Electromedical Engineering Works and Serves for the Brightness of Indonesia’, and consisted of several event series. “The PENA was held for two days, on April 22-23, 207. In the first day, there was a seminar on medical devices, and a competition entitled ‘Electromedical Innovation Competition in a football peach of UMY in the second day,” he mentioned.

The participants of the seminar and competition were Electromedical Engineering students across Indonesia. The competition itself comprised of two competitions, namely ‘Biomedical Signal’ and ‘Life Support’.

Berlianto also told that Electromedical Engineering Student Association of Indonesia (HIMATEMI) mandated Electromedical Engineering Student Association (HIMATEM) of UMY to conduct the event. Indeed, the event was firstly organized, and will be held annually by HIMATEMI members in rotation. “In Indonesia, there are only 15 higher education institution providing a program of Electromedical Engineering. Through this even, we except to contribute to the electromedical engineering development of Indonesia,” he hoped.

He also wished that the event could run well so that it can motivate the next organizer. “We also expect that UMY can serve and provide a good hospitality in order that another institution can do as we do,” he maintained.
