FEM of USIM Visits FEB of UMY

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) always widens its international cooperation to be a world class university. One of the university partners is Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Both universities have agreed to conduct a student exchange program, field trip, and student association sharing. On 29 October – 4 November 2017, students of Faculty of Economics and Muamalat (FEM) of USIM supervised by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Haji Alias visited Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UMY.

On a released received on Tuesday (31/10), it was mentioned that the students would visit Kauman, a village in where Muhammadiyah was established, and have a Merapi Lava tour as a pro cultural promotion of Yogyakarta and its culture.

The USIM parties were welcomed with a Saman dance performance by a dance club of FEB of UMY on 30 October 2017 at building of K.H. Ibrahim. One of the USIM students Siti Fatimah binti Ahmad Ali admitted that she was entertained by the dance performance.

Meanwhile, Dean of FEB of UMY Rizal Yaya, Ph.D., M.Sc., Ak., CA. told, “USIM and UMY havebeen collaborating well. Each semester UMY students have a student exchange program at USIM.” In the end of his remark, Dean of FEB wished that the USIM students could enjoy the programs and learn from Indonesian people.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Haji Alias also stated, “Three years ago we visited UMY as participants of a martial art competition, but now we come here as a partner. This shows that UMY and USM have been cooperating for long time.”

Besides, Director of International Program of Management and Business (IMaBs) Dr. Indah Fatmawati, S.E., M.Si. asserted, “USIM students are from Department of Management so that we welcome you at IMaBs since this international program has just been established several years ago.”
