American Corner (Amcor) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted uMYjazz, a jazz mini concert, to celebrate International Jazz Day. Last year Amcor of UMY also organized ‘All about Jazz Concert’. The uMYjazz has been registered to an international jazz calendar of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Held at a reading corner of Library of UMY, Amcor of UMY presented ‘Overcoustics’, a pop-jazz local musical group of Faculty of Language Education. Besides performing, Overcoustics had a talkshow on jazz. In his remark, Director of American Corner of UMY Puthut Ardianto stated that the uMYjazz aimed to promote jazz to students. “Jazz has been considered music enjoyed by high-level parties so that Amcor of UMY would like to bring jazz to get closer to students,” he declared.

Audiences of the uMYjazz were not only students but also teachers and staffs of UMY so that the objective of the events was achieved.
