Enhancing Tourism Potential, Students of UMY Collaborate with People of Pancoh to Establish an Official Ecotourism Website

Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) performing community service (KKN) succeeded leveraging ecotourism in Pancoh, Girikerto, Turi, Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). Associated in KKN team 044, they conducted training in and management of an official village website as a mean to promote local ecotourism on 28 January 2019.

Chief of the KKN team Fendy Butmawan K. uttered that students equipped promotional training through online (daring) to ease tourism information dissemination in Pancoh for tourists inside and outside of DIY. “Our program aims to improve ecotourism in Pancoh through internet as a medium. This village has many attractive sites to travel. To facilitate tourists, we invite people in the village to contrive the official website, providing detail information of the ecotourism,” stated Fendy on Tuesday (19/2).

To execute the program, the team brought an expert of Search Engine Optimizer (SEO), Danu Adji Wibisono Triatmojo as a speaker. Besides, they invited Alien Akmalia, S.E., M.Sc., a lecturer of Management Department of UMY. Alien, who was also the community service supervisor, delivered management and financial training to all business units in Pancoh.

“We commit to help people in Pancoh so that we intentionally and seriously brought experts to educate the people,” added Fendy.

After the website training and management, on January 29, Pancoh officially launched its very own ecotourism website. The official website is named ekowisatapancoh.com and is accessible to everyone.

The training provides new knowledge for the people. Hopefully these programs will help Pancoh gain more visitors,” maintianed Purwadi.
