KKN 129 UMY Trained the Family Welfare Improvement Group of Becici Hamlet in written and Sibori Batik Techniques

Student groups of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Community Service Program (KKN UMY) group 129 which were placed in Becici, Wonokerto, Turi, Sleman, Yogyakarta, held batik and sibori training for 20 housewives of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group. The housewives who participated in the training which was held for two days, Tuesday (1/28) to Wednesday (1/29) followed it with enthusiasm.

KKN group 129 field supervisor, Dr. Nanik Prasetyoningsih, SH., MH explained that the batik training activities were carried out to provide training in written batik and sibori batik techniques, as well as to support the household’s creative economy. “In addition, the training also aims to preserve batik culture as one of the characteristics of the Indonesia. The batik motifs made in this training are bamboo, daun pegagan, and salak. The written batik technique was held on Tuesday, and Sibori batik training on Wednesday,” she said.

Nanik also said that PKK ladies were very excited and enthusiastic during the batik training. “According to the PKK ladies, this training is very beneficial and adds to their knowledge and batik skills,” he added.

This batik training also presented Budiarti Nafisah as a mentor who provided batik material and training.
