Five students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) associated in a dance club, Sentaka Mudya, performed at SIAS International University, Xinzheng, Henan Province, People’s Republic of China on Tuesday (1/11).
The students were Melawati Nur Aziizah (an Economics student), Eva Hanifah (an Economics student), Tugiyanto (an Accounting student), Nur Isnayni (an Accounting student), and Meidian Triana Putri (a Law student). The students were supervised by Sri Sudarsi, M.InT.
Sri informed that the students presented a Yogyakarta classical dance with a fragment of Durga Ruwat. “The dance was performed in Asian Culture, which was included in International Culture Week conducted on 31 October to 5 November. The students danced in front of approximately 1,000 audiences,” Sri told.
In International Culture Week 2016, Sri mentioned that there were students from twenty countries participating in the cultural performance, traditional fashion show, and typical food of their home country. The four students of UMY and other Indonesian students doing student exchange at SIAS University also presented Indonesian food and traditional clothes.
“UMY was invited by SIAS University because both parties have been cooperated for these recent years. One of the cooperation programs is student exchange program that UMY’s students study at SIAS University for a year with scholarship, and vice versa,” Sri ended.
