Communication Science (IK) students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) won XXI Short Film Festival which was a national film festival organized by CINEMA21 on 16-21 March 2016 at XXI Epicentrum Jakarta. The festival aimed at finding talented youth who can become the tremendous filmmakers.
A film entitled Nilep directed by Wahyu Agung Prasetyo, a Broadcasting student of batch 2011, achieved the best short fiction film based on the media judges. In an interview at Public Relations and Protocol Office on Monday (21/3), he expressed, “Alhamdulillah, we knocked other 545 films out.”
There were four festival film categories, namely Action/Fantasy/Thriller Fiction Short Film, Drama/Comedy Fiction Short Film, Animation Short Film, and Documentary Short Film. “Nilep was nominated with 25 other selected films before the film became the winner,” Wahyu conveyed.
Nilep told a number of children debated since one of them stole a toy. The others blamed the toy thief and ultimately he returned the toy to the seller via post. “The story illustrated that there are positives aspects hidden in children’s simple characteristics. They were honesty and responsibility,” he mentioned.
The other awards rewarded to Nilep were the most favorite movie festival of P.T. Pos Indonesia in 2015, the best student short fiction film and the berst film based on the judges in Acffest 2015 by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the nomination of short film festival of Kompas TV 2016.
