A Poetry Community of UMY Achieves the Second Runner Up at the Festival Bulan Bahasa 2018

Facho Poetry, a poetry community of Faculty of Islamic Studies of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) finished the third place of a poetry musicalizaiton the Festival Bulan Bahasa 2018 conducted by Department of Indonesian Language Education and Literature of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Yogyakarta.

One of the Faskho Poetry members Burhanudin Ja’far told that the community took two weeks to prepare for combining music and two poems determined by the committee. During their exercise, all members sought to make various music arrangements. “Ultimately, we got an appropriate composition for two poems entitled Anomali Rindu by Ulfatin C.H. and Di Batas Yogya by Kirdjomulyo,” mentioned Burhanuddin in an interview on Friday (19/10) at Building of F6, Faculty of Islamic Studies of UMY.

Being the first runner up at a similar contest last year, Burhan and his team had set a high target to win the contest, but they had to admit that two other teams were better than them.

Nevertheless, they were grateful for achieving the second runner up. “We would work harder and try to create better music and poem so that public can enjoy our work,” said Burhan.

Additionally, there were five Faskho Poetry members joining the contest, namely Burhanudin Ja’far (Department of Islamic Broadcasting and Communication), Fathul Arifin (Department of Islamic Banking and Economics), Muhammad Fikri Rizal (Department of Religious Education of Islam), Maflikhatun Khabibah (Department of Religious Education of Islam), and Muhammad Fauzan Akhyar L. (Department of Islamic Broadcasting and Communication). The Fashko Poetry was managed under Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) of Faculty of Islamic Studies of UMY. Although the community was established by students at the faculty, but students from other faculties are welcomed to join the community.
