Accounting Department of UMY Launches Lazis.id

Accounting Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) launched an application-based zakat which can be accessed on www.lazis.id. It was officially announced by Vice Chancellor II of UMY, Dr. Suryo Pratolo, M.Si., Akt., C.A., AAP. The application was launched along with International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICAF) joined by accounting lecturers of Muhammadiyah-affiliated universities in Indonesia. Everybody may access the application, but they have to firstly register.

The application manager, Rudy Suryanto, S.E., M.Sc., Akt. informed that the application is in line with Islamic Financial Accounting Standard Declaration (PSAK) No. 109 on Zakat Accounting and Alms. “It is a web-based program so that it can be accessed from everywhere including a mobile phone. The application provides a lot of training materials which can be downloaded. There are a zakat dictionary (from A to Z), and it affords a blog to share activities and news of zakat and networking maps showing Lazis locations in Indonesia,” he told.

The application is for zakat management agencies, and the application making aims at informing public the Laziss locations near their dwelling, and easing them to see financial reports of Lazis. “Thus, public can recognize the credible Lazir in their hometown and can monitor the financial system,” Rudy conveyed.

The application can be accessed via internet and it is free. It is also to assist Alms Agencies manage their finance. The program is supported by Accounting Departments of Muhammadiyah-affiliated Universities across Indonesia (APSA-PTM) and it will be the practicum of each department. “For one reason, a practicum of zakat accounting is seldom or has not existed yet. The application making is sponsored by Bank Syariah and BAZNAS so that it can reach out and be sustainable,” he said.

The application launched was also underlain by that a lot of alms agencies confronted difficulties in implementing PSAK No. 109 stated by Indonesia Accountant Association, a guidance of noting and reporting financial reports of alms agencies. “It is mentioned on PP No. 14/2014 that the obligation of alms agencies is to write a report at least once a month which will be audited by public accountants. The Lazis.id application will help the agencies to arrange the financial report,” he mentioned.

The application is one of the contributions of Accounting Department of UMY to community. It is also to empower the department in public and Islamic accounting. Besides launching the lazis.id application, the department also launched an application of Village Fund Accounting.
