Accreditation is a standard to show accountability of a higher education institution. The accreditation is a responsibility to community.

In an accreditation visit of Department of Civil Engineering of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Tuesday (24/10) at Building of Siti Walidah, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Jazaul Ikhsan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. stated that the accreditation demonstrates         quality of an institution.

“We were audited by internal quality assurance of UMY and now we are assessed by National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT),” told Jazaul.

The assessor of the accreditation visit Dr. Ir. Najid, M.T. from University of Tarumanegara, Jakarta and Dr. Abdul Gaus, S.T., M.T. from University of Khairun, Ternate. They assessed performance, implementation of a vision, lecturers, staffs, alumni, and students of Department of Civil Engineering.

Dr. Ir. Najid, M.T. maintained that an accreditation visit is time to prove documents submitted in the previous stage. “This visit is a follow up stage to assess the quality of a program,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Head of Civil Engineering of UMY Prof. Agus S. Muthohar, Ph.D. presented goals of the department. “In 2021, we will attempt to compete in ASEAN; indeed, we have cooperated with several ASEAN universities,” he explained.
