After Holding The 4th ICoSI 2020, UMY Wins MURI Record to Hold 14 International Online Conferences Simultaneously on October 13-14

In order to support the vision of internationalization launched by UMY, The 4th International Conference on Sustainable Innovation (ICoSI) 2020 will be held on October 13-14, 2020 as a forum for scientists, lecturers and experts to convey their knowledge and experiences in international conference forums. The Covid-19 pandemic situation has changed the initial plan for the 2020 ICoSI for Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The conference, which was originally to be held offline, will be held online.

UMY Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Ir Sukamta MT IPM stated that UMY is ready to hold ICoSI 2020 online. “To accommodate the large number of participants, not all participants will make direct presentations. Instead, participants were asked to make a video presentation by displaying Power Points that were then sent to the committee along with a full paper which should be uploaded to the ICoSI 2020 website. The chosen participants will be asked to do live presentations via MS Teams or Zoom, and live streamed on IG-TV and Youtube. We are targeting a total of 1,000 presenters, “said Sukamta.

ICoSI 2020 is the largest international conference yet as it involves 14 conference focuses unlike the previous year, which only involved nine conference focus. There is a potential for MURI (Indonesian Museum of Records) record-breaking if it is able to fulfill the category of the highest number of abstracts and papers.

“At ICoSI 2019, the number of abstracts was recorded at around 1,300 with 850 full papers. This year, we expect more than that number. So, we have registered with the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) for the international seminar category with the highest number of abstracts or full papers, and the highest number of conference focal points. There had never been an international seminar with more than 14 conferences. Interestingly, The 4th ICoSI won an award from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) for the Virtual Conference category with the most disciplines, “said Sukamta at the UMY Central Campus.

UMY will not only be the host of this international conference, it will also involve lecturers to dare to present their work. According to Sukamta, the existence of ICoSI has encouraged the increase of UMY journals indexed by Scopus which is very useful for campus ranking both on a national and international scale.

The Committee Chairman of the 4th ICoSI 2020, Dr. Yeni Rosilawati SIP SE MM, who is also a lecturer at the UMY Communication Studies program, said the 4th ICoSI 2020 will be attended by more than 1,000 participants, 38 co-hosts (partners) and 35 speakers, Both from within the country and abroad. This conference also collaborates with IOPScience; Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); Energy, Engineering and Environmental Sciences (EEES); Atlantis Press; and the Web of Science. In addition, ICoSI 2020 also collaborates with international journals indexed by Scopus.
