Alhamdulillah, Library of UMY Achieves ‘A’ Accreditation

Developing system of staffs and services, Library of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) gained the result. National Library of Republic of Indonesia had appraised Library of UMY since 21 May – 20 December 2014 and decided ‘A’ of the accreditation. It was the first appraisal program of accreditation of the National Library. It was written on Library Accreditation Certificate No. 29/ee/XII.2014 signed by Head of National Library, Dra. Hj. Sri Sularsih, M. Si.

According to Head of Library UMY, Laksa HS, the preparation for achieving standard of the best university was settling and developing eight core programs of library management. Less than a year, his party had arranged Library UMY to be assessed by accreditation team.

“Our preparation is improving some fields as cooperation field, enhancing human resources, adding and listing books, refining services, maximizing infrastructures, and organizing library materials. We maintain library collections in order to be always used, and the crux is that we have obvious goal of library profile,” he told.

Laksa HS added that the core of institute betterment is the attitude of human resources to share knowledge with other libraries. He said that Library UMY often provided collection copies for other libraries like Library of Universitas Negeri Solo, STIE Cilacap, Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang, and trained libraries of Muhammadiyah-affiliated schools in Yogyakarta.

“I thank to Mr. Bambang Cipto for giving us occasion to foster our human resources to be active, like at school, and join seminars encouraging library management. Because of Rector’s opportunity and encouragement, our human resources could evolve Library UMY and Alhamdulillah it is granted ‘A’ accreditation,” he conveyed.

Besides UMY, there are 7 libraries in Yogyakarta accredited ‘A’, namely Library of Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga (UIN SUKA Yogyakarta), Universitas Sanata Darma Yogyakarta, STIKES Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, SD Muhammadiyah Sapen, and SMP 2 Muhammadiyah Kota Yogyakarta.
