A lecturer of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) as well as Executive Director for Cooperation and International Affairs Eko Priyo Purnomo, S.IP., M.Si., M.Res., PhD was invited by British Academy in London, the United Kingdom (UK) to attend a workshop on 26 June and a conference on inclusive, smart, and sustainability on 27-29 June.
The program was an internationalization effort of University of Bradford to broaden links with university members and research institutions in Southeast Asia. The program participants were from some reputable universities such as University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, University of Glasgow, University of Denver (the USA), and many more. UMY is the only Indonesian university at the conference.
Eko Priyo Purnomo was granted to join a three-year funded project by British Academy. All the project grantees firstly had a culmination workshop on inclusive, smart and sustainable cities at British Academy in Carlton House Terrace in London on 26 June. Afterwards, they attended an annual conference on the development study association on 27-29 June at the University of Manchester. Eko told, “I present a development an inclusive city in Yogyakarta. It was a case study of a development multi-cultural and religious cities.”
Eko stated that the conference is a beneficial occasion for UMY to widen cooperation in an educational area such as collaboration in joint journal publication and conducting international conferences.
