As an Unggul & Islami university, Universitas Muhammdiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) focuses on enhancing not only its academic quality but also Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) through Baitul Maal Wa Tamwil (BMT). To support the economy of society, BMT of UMY conducted BMT UMY Fair 2017 entitled ‘Islamic Transaction’ on Tuesday to Saturday (5-9/12) at Plaza UMY Boga. It was an annual event for UMY academicians and public.

Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto stated that BMT UMY Fair should be a link between consumers and producers. “I expected that BMY of UMY could always organize this fair and support business of UMY such as Student Entrepreneurship and Business Incubator (SEBI) of UMY since it actively sells merchandise of UMY and joins Ahad Morning (AMOR). Through the AMOR, the consumers can be greater.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of BMT of UMY Misbahul Anwar, SE., M.Sc.  informed that the fair is held once a year and it has been carried out  for five years. “There are more than 30 stands. The participants of the fair are businesspersons who are enthusiastic about promoting their products such as veils, clothes, automotive goods, merchandise, properties, electronics, and many more. Therefore, I suggest that all academicians join the BMT UMY Fair because there are a lot of discounts,” maintained Misbahul.

He added, “This event is conducted for five days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. I also wish that this fair could motivate entrepreneurs to develop their business and product quality.”
