The first round of Indonesia ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) has been conducted at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Saturday (13/6). Yell of supporters created the contest atmosphere as the real national badminton competition, Indonesia Super Series. 24 teams joined the contest and attempted to present their best performance to pass to quarter final.

The first Robominton, a robot playing badminton, was Riny from Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) against Cadiak Pandai from Politeknik Negeri Padang. The first round spent very quickly, 3 minutes 14 seconds that Riny won the game 5-0. The other match was between TRUI-BOT-PRJ from University of Indonesia and TE-PAK Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung with the score 3-5.

As the real badminton game, there was deuce of the game point so that the score should be more than 2 points. The deuce occurred to the game between Ramang from University of Hasanuddin and Rengganis Robomintn from Surabaya State University. Daeng Ramang had a unique shape having 7 rackets and being able to rotate and won with the score 7-5 in 6 minutes 56 seconds. Unfortunately, University of Hasanuddin got warning from the judge Ir. Wahidin Wahab, M.Sc., Ph.D. since one of the team members entered to arena before the command. It would affect the total point of University of Hasanuddin to be the best team.

The deuce also ensued to the match between Barelang from Politeknik Negeri Batam and Equatron Borneo from University of Tanjungpura. The match took 7 minutes 1 second and Barelang won with score 7-5. It was the longest game of the first round because the robomintons could give feedback which is not easy for the operators to control the robots.

Giving feedback each other also happened in the game between Sunrise from Politeknik Negeri Banyuwangi and Robin_MP from Politeknik Ujung Pandang. The Robin_MP won with score 5-3. Feedback occurring twice respectively was also in the last match of the first round between Maestri_EVO from Yogyakarta State University and IC_ROATA from University of Tadulako with score 3-5, winning for IC_ROATA from University of Tadulako.
