19 teams of 18 countries joined ABU Robocon 2015 at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Sunday (23/8). Broadcasters of each country contended that the robot contest was successfully conducted. The broadcasters were China Central Television (CCTV), Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU), Fiji TV (Fiji Television Limited), RTHK (Radio Television Hong Kong), DDI India (Doordarshan), Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI), IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), KA (Khabar Agency), KBS (Korean Broadcasting System), RTM (Radio Television Malaysia), MNB (Mongolian National Public Radio and Television), NTV (Nepal Television Corporation), PTV (Pakistan Television Corporation), RTR (Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company), ITN (Independent Television Network), MCOT (Modernine Public Company Limited), and VTV (Vietnam Television).
A producer of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Lee Tze Leung stated that the televise station had joined the ABU Robocon for 10 years, and it is the very first for Indonesia acting as the host. He considered that UMY’s committee successfully organized the Asia-Pacific robot contest. “The venue of this contest is wonderful for an international robot contest, and I think that UMY is amazing to have this enormous Sportorium,” he argued.
Lee Tze inserted that all participants of various countries looked enthusiastic about the robot contest and enjoyed the game. “Robominton is a quite exciting theme. The participants’ robots have a tremendous quality,” he confessed.
Furthermore, Secretariat of NHK Megumi perceived that facilities and the Liaison Officers were excellent. “A number of facilities like the contest venue, medical team, and security are great. I am glad to be served well by the LOs,” he appreciated.
Megumi expected that the cooperation between NHK and Indonesia, particularly UMY, will not come to an end after ABU Robocon. “I wish that one day we both, NHK and UMY, can cooperate each other in another occasion,” he hoped.
