Sultan Advises UMY to Provide Training and to Organize aRigorous Recruitment of Doctors and Nurses
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) cooperating with Universitas Klinikum Munster (UKM) would establish cardiovascular treatment center after they had organized a workshop regarding cancer and heart issues. It is planned that the cardiovascular center would run in November 2015. The establishment aimed at undertaking treatment programs of the issues in Indonesia entirely and comprehensively.
To bring it to the reality, UMY conducted a hearing and required Ngarso Dalem’s advice on Monday (26/5) at government office of Yogyakarta. Sri Sultan HB X completely supported the cooperation between UMY and UKM of Germany in constructing cardiovascular and cancer treatment center in Yogyakarta. “I totally encourage it. Nevertheless, several aspects should be noticed, human resources. There should be standards and qualifications for doctors and nurses for the desk. Thus, it is necessary to hold training and selection,” uttered Sri Sultan HB X.
Sri Sultan inserted that there should be anticipation in the recruitment of the doctors and nurses. It is necessary to evade errors. “For instance, it occurred in Medan that prospective doctors and nurses moved to Jakarta after having training for a year. We ought to be cautious,” he added.
The prospective doctors and nurses, Sultan continued, have to be provided with special training. “For avoiding as what happened in Medan, there should be contract signing. After the training, they should serve or work there so that the cardiovascular and cancer treatment center could run well,” he emphasized.
Sultan elucidated that the essential aspect is now dealing with nursing capacities of each hospital. Whom we should pay attention to is not only doctors but also nurses. “It is found that many nurses in Indonesia have not had good skills in giving treatment as overseas treatment that the nurses are better than in Indonesia. Thus, certain training is also necessary for the prospective nurses,” he asserted.
Sri Sultan HHB X continued that international nurse cooperation with Germany is also needed. It is for fostering the Indonesian nurses’ skills so that they have equal abilities to theirs. “Besides, there should be characteristics. For example, when a patient has to have intravenous feeding or their body has to be checked, it should not be carried out by the doctors, but the nurses. The small matter needs to notice,” he conveyed.
The hearing was also with the purpose of getting permission of Ngarso Dalem since UMY’s parties would go to Germany to follow up the cooperation. Additionally, it was also to gain the whole support of him so that the cooperation could be conducted well and the cardiovascular and cancer center could be constructed in Yogyakarta.
