One of the underlying reasons of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiah establishment is to provide places to spread and develop understanding of Islamic values through peace and modern means.

“‘Aisyiah is obviously designed and invented for women in order that they possess equal opportunities to men’s without any discrimination. However, it does not mean that men and women should be vis-à-vis,” stated Chairperson of Central Board of Aisiyah Dra. Siti Noordjannah Djohantini, M.Si., M.M. at Upgrading Session for all administrators and members of the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah Taiwan (PCIM), Ortom, and AUM on Saturday (1/12).

Noordjannah, who is also a lecturer at Faculty of Economics and Business of UMY, added PCIM and PCIA possesses strengths, noticed from both their name and other aspects. “It is impossible to do dakwah (Islamic preaching) without ghiroh. If we are individualists who only think about ourselves, we do not need to carry out dakwah in only think about other countries. Wherever we are, we have to bear in mind vigor of ‘silaturrahim in dakwah’. Thus, the PCIM and PCIA can perform dakwah systematically,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile, Director of International Affairs Office of UMY Yordan Gunawan informed that the upgrading session was attended by cadres of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiah who are mostly Indonesian students in Taiwan. In addition to Noordjannah, Head of Board of Trustees of UMY Prof. Syamsul Anwar and Rector of UMY Dr. Gunawan Budiyanto became speakers of the upgrading session.
