Commemorating the 36th anniversary, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted an alumni reunion ‘Potret Nostalgia’ on Friday (14/4) at floor 1 of E6 of K.H. Ibrahim building. Approximately 200 alumni of FISIPOL of UMY attended the reunion. The event was also enlivened by Teater Tangga performance, acoustic performance, and screening video.
Vice Dean II of FISIPOL of UMY Bambang Wahyu Nugroho, S.IP., M.A. stated that the reunion was a stepping stone of the faculty for the alumni development. “This is to develop the alumni since one of the university responsibilities is to foster the alumni,” he declared.
Alumni are a supporting factor of the higher education institution. “Alumni possess a credit point in the institution accreditation (AIPT) and department accreditation. If the institution and department are accredited A, the alumni supervisor should be good. Thus, the supervisor will help the alumni career which brings positive impacts on the department, faculty, and university,” told Bambang, who is also a International Relations lecturer.
In addition, the reunion was in line with the vision of Alumni Association (KA) of UMY that would like to arrange alumni commissariat organizers of FISIPOL. “KAUMY comprises of regional organizers and commissariat organizers. The regional organizers are responsible for accommodating alumni as their origin, while the commissariat organizers are to manage alumni based on their faculty which has not been established yet at FISIPOL. Therefore, we need to gather and list the data to create FISIPOL commissariat organizers,” explained Bambang.
He also told that the alumni reunion will be regularly held once a year or two years, and FISIPOL can collect the alumni’s tracer study. The reunion was also organized but there was not any plan to establish commissariat organizers. “It was conducted ten years ago, but it was just a reunion. However, this reunion aims at discussing a plan to establish the commissariat organizers,” stated Bambang.
Besides the reunion, other event series of FISIPOL’s 36th anniversary commemoration have been carried out since February. “The other events are opening ceremony, medical checkup, community services, and competitions for students,” he mentioned.
