In order to channel the aspirations of the community to the campus, the Board of Trustees (BPH) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) in collaboration with the Tabligh chamber of the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership and the UMY Body of Islamic Study and Practices (LPPI) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Absorption of Community Aspirations About UMY ”on Saturday (14/03) in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, UMY Central Campus.

Chief Researcher Dr. Nawari Ismail, M.Ag said that in order to carry out future programs of UMY valid data about the environment of the community around UMY is required so that the programs that are run can be more effective. “Therefore, the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership Council of DIY organized three aspects of data compilation namely da’wah mapping, mapping of da’wah subjects, and data gathering on perceptions, impacts and expectations of the community to UMY. After getting all the data needed from the community, a follow-up plan related to the program will be implemented by BPH for UMY as a form of contribution to the community in the fields of environment, health, religion, culture, economy, and appropriate technology,” he explained.

On the same occasion, the representative of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership Tarjih Council H. Nurul Satria Abdi, S.H., M.H said that the regional leadership has a mapping program on da’wah in the DIY region which consists of 4 districts and 1 city in synergy with Muhammadiyah’s charitable efforts, including UMY. Then, as a form of responsibility, the regional board of DIY conducted a study in collaboration with BPH and LPPI UMY. “The hope is that with the propagation map, we have valid data on challenges, obstacles and disturbances in the process of realizing enlightening, progressive, and humanist Islamic treatises. The programs implemented by UMY will make it so that our da’wah can be accepted by the wider community. Then the government, society and Islamic organizations will get along well and be able to experience Islam that is full of grace, “he said.
