Dean of Social and Political Science Faculty (FISIPOL) of Univesitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) welcomed freshmen batch 2015. He argued that they are the best generation since they could compete with thousands of higher school students across Indonesia to be accepted at UMY.
“I am proud and optimistic that you are the best generation. Of forty thousand higher school students registered at UMY, only five thousand students are accepted,” mentioned Ali Muhammad in his welcoming remark in a ‘Masa Ta’aruf’ of FISIPOL of UMY at mosque hall of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan on Tuesday (1/9).
Ali conveyed that FISIPOL of UMY is a right choice since all departments are accredited A. “We have three ‘A’-accredited departments, namely Governmental Studies, International Relations, and Communication Sciences. Besides, most lecturers of the department have pursued their doctoral degree and some of them are also taking their doctoral degree overseas,” he affirmed.
Ali inserted that FISIPOL of UMY has two international programs, International Program for Governmental Studies (IGOV) and International Program of International Relations (IPIREL). “Incredible Director of IGOV is Dr. Eko Priyo Purnomo who just went home ‘hanging out’ in United Kingdom,” stated Ali Muhammad, Ph.D. who also graduated from a prestigious university in Malaysia.
Additionally, this FISIPOL MATAF was distinctive form the previous MATAF since it looks more intellectual and rousing. The group names also derived from East and West great philosophers like Sir Muhammad Iqbal, Ibnu Sina, August Comte, and others.
