“Demokrasi dan Moral Politik” (Democracy and Political Morals) is a book documenting Indonesian politics in2011-2013 as political issues of Former President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Anas Urbaningrum’s corruption, and the emergence of Joko Widodo in Indonesian politics.

At a book review on Friday (23/11) at Kasman Dingodimejo of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), a lecturer of Master’s Program of International Relations Dr. Ahmad Sahide, S.IP., M.A. informed that the book was a compilation of 33 essays. “I read and analyzed all issues and political development,” told Ahmad.

“If this book were a novel, the main character was SBY since the President in the era was him,” stated Ahmad. The book discusses leadership styles of SBY, how he created his image to gain public sympathy, political styles and language of SBY.

Meanwhile, Head of Community Empowerment Office of Muhammadiyah Dr. Nurul Yamin commented on the book. He expressed that the book seems a window to see a wonderful scenery. “It opens reality and has fresh views for readers interested in politics,” he conveyed.

The diction is easily understood and serious topics are written in simple diction so that readers enjoy reading it. “It feels like having a conversation in a coffee shop,” expressed

“Even though political issues occurred in 2011-2012, knowledge on the book is reliable till today because the political issues are also ensuing now,” added Yamin.

Additionally, Professor of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Prof. Dr. Munir Mulkhan uttered that the book can be a reference for writing undergraduate research, theses, and dissertations since it explores political issues specifically. He was also attracted in essays on Jokowi. “For one reason, Jokowi’s issues remain existing and will often be talked,” he thought.
