Department of Management of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is accredited ‘A’. The accreditation result was announced by National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) through the Decree No. 1887/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VII/2018 on Tuesday (24/7).

In an interview on Thursday (26/7), Widowati P.A., Ph.D., M.Si. stated that the accreditation was achieved after submitting accreditation documents and having an accreditation visit. “The visit by BAN-PT was on 16-18 July 2018 at Department of Management. We got the result that that we gained ‘A’ accreditation with a score of 373 in the following week. We can maintain ‘A’ accreditation that we have obtained since 2013,” she told.

Retno added that the ‘A’ accreditation can be achieved due to programs at the department. “Department of Management of UMY possesses a program of entrepreneurship and management science. Besides, our mission is to be a center for a management study in ASEAN educational institutions. Thus, we launched International Program of Management and Business (IMaBs) in 2016. This department also conducts student exchange programs collaborating with foreign universities such as Tamkang University Taiwan, Universitas Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), SIAS International University, dan Khon Kaen University,” she told.

In addition, assessors of the accreditation visit mentioned several evaluations for the department as the ration of students and lecturers is quite high. Rento said that the department has anticipated it by online courses. “UMY is one of the universities actively joining online courses in Indonesia so that we also provide online courses,” she asserted.

Retno expected, “The increasing accreditation score may boost all department parties to enhance quality of human resources and this department. All of our endeavors may produce Islamic and quality graduates.”
