A final of Indonesia Fire Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI) was conducted on Friday (17/7) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). DOME from Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) successfully achieved the first place at the KRPAI defeating 20 other teams.
For two days, Thursday-Friday (12-13/7), UMM showed amazing quality. Since UMM only had a representative at the Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018, team members Alfan Achmadillah Fauzi, Rohmansyah, and Ken Dedes Maria Kunty were grateful for winning the KRPAI.
“Alhamdulillah, our robots performed well as expected. This victory is valuable since we are the only delegates from UMM,” told Alfan Achmadillah Fauzi, chief of DOME team.
The triumph of DOME was due to the use of more sophisticated technology and novel strategies than those of other teams. When other teams used water to extinguish fire, DOME employed carbon dioxide (CO2) to replace the water. Besides, a DOME robot was smaller than others so that its movement was faster and more accurate.
“We designed the robot since 2016 and we always upgraded its components,” said Alfan.
Winning the KRPAI, UMM deserves to represent Indonesia at the Trinity College Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest (TCFFHRC) in the United States in 2019. Indeed, UMM also won the TCFFHRC in 2017.
