The 13th Nasyiyatul Aisyiyah (NA) was officially closed on Monday (28/8) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The congress elected Dyah Puspitarini as chairman of NA of period 2016-2020.
Delivering a remark, Dyah invited NA members to work in the name of humanity, Allah, and Prophet Muhammad. “As a human, we are required to work because Allah, Prophet Muhammad, and Muslims will look at what we do. Our duty is to establish principles of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar (doing good and prohibiting bad) and to educate Muslim generation,” Dyah stated.
The NA congress also provided recommendations as follows:
To created a women- and children-friendly civilization underlain prophetic value, we, Nasyiatul Aisyiyah women:
- Firmly Require Indonesia Broadcasting Commission (KPI) to stop uneducated programs such as:
- Reality show displaying bullying at children’s hours to watch TV and displaying exaggerating unqualified idol reality show,
- Television soap operas, locally known as sinetron, showing violence and promiscuity,
- Programs promoting LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender),
- Advertisements exploiting women.
- Emphasizing that all parties of family, school, and public provide comprehensive universal sex education for children and adults.
- Urge Strong from Home movement, which creates physically, psychologically, and spiritually healthy environment.
Besides, NA’s provided recommendations to:
- Government and DPR
NA urges government and DPR to ratify the bill (RUU) of Sexual Violence Abolition and to monitor a regulation in lieu of law (PERPU) No.1/2006 on the second amendment of Law No. 23/2002 on Child Protection due to the susceptibility of gelding punishment and the absence of rehabilitation mechanism.
NA encourages the implementation of full day school with considering children’s rights to freely explore, play, and express their arguments so that there is not any coercion and exploitation.
NA urges government officials, such as police, to rapidly respond each complaint of violence against children or of children escaping from their home, to frequently evaluate the implementation Regency/City for Children, and to punish as well as to abolish the title if violence against children occurs and is not handled quickly.

NA insists Muhammadiyah’s and Aisyiyah’s charity efforts to construct women- and children-friendly public facilities such as lactation rooms, day care, and to provide maternity leave.
The NA congress organized fundraising for victims of violence against women and children. The congress participants signed a petition against the violence.
