Eight Teams Compete at the Humanoid KRSBI

Eight teams will compete in Indonesia Robo Soccer Humanoid Contest (Humanoid KRSBI). They are tim Al-‘ADIYAT from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY); Krakatau FC from Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia (Teknokrat); Midun from Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP); ALFAROBI from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM); Dago Hoogeschool from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB); EROS from Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS); BARELANG FC from Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam); and ICHIRO from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS).

A jury of the KRSBI for the Humanoid Division as well as a speaker of a technical Meeting Dr. Ir. Endra Pitowarno explained new regulations of Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018. One of them is that the winner of this KRI deserves to participate in the KRSBI for the Humanoid Division in the next year. “To pass a national contest, participants should win a regional contest, but the regulation is changed that four winners of the KRSBI of the KRI 2018 will compete in the Humanoid KRSBI in the next year. Thus, this regulation enlarge an occasion for other teams in the regional contest to pass to the national contest,” declared Endra.

Endra informed that the number of participants of the Humanoid KRSBI decreased. Based on data of Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), there were more than 30 teams competing at the KRSBI Humanoid. “Several regulations of the KRSBI Humanoid are similar to real soccer regulations even though technology applied in robots is not quite sophisticated to follow a real soccer match. Indeed, an investment to develop technology of robots to adjust soccer players costs extravagantly. The conditions may cause that the reduction of the teams participating at the Humanoid KRSBI,” he maintained.

Nevertheless, Endra believed that young generation focusing on robotics would be able to confront the challenges. He thought collaboration is a mean of facing the threats. “We plant to conduct an exhibition for these robots. Displaying the robots may bear cooperation to evolve more sophisticated technology. The exhibition also aims to prepare our robots to compete at the Robocup in 2050,” he stated.

Endra also encouraged winners of the Humanoid KRSBI to actively contribute to foster the robots. “The winners are responsible for developing technology of the humanoid soccer robots. I am sure that all KRI participants are individuals possessing high curiosity so that they can encounter challenges and advance robotics in Indonesia,” he ended.
