Four students of Department of Sustainable Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitias Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) departed to National Chiayi University (NYCU), Taiwan to do an internship program. Their departure ceremony was conducted on Tuesday (9/10) at Rectorate Lobby of A.R. Fachruddin Building and attended by Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. They have the internship from 10 October to 8 November and focus on issues of organic farming.
Gunawan advised students to utilize the occasion to learn something new. “We mingle with friends from the same nation every day so that our discovery is often similar. Our collaboration with the NYCU can be a moment to discover and engage in technology development of a food area. Thus, you have to leverage this opportunity to be inventors. I want you to learn from Taiwan, particularly learn how the country become a developed country,” declared Gunawan.
He also reminded the students to always remember that they are Indonesian representatives. “Besides, you are Muslims so that you have to behave as how Islam teaches you,” emphasized Gunawan.
Additionally, the four students were Amalia Puji Etikasari (batch 2015), Dian Pratiwi (batch 2015), Aliva Nadira Chayani (batch 2015), and Arum Wahyu Ningsih (batch 2014). They were supervised by a lecturer of Department of Sustainable Agriculture of UMY Genesiska S.Si., M.Sc.
