Two persons in charge of Warung Prancis (WP) of UMY Puthut Ardianto, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Fahrizal Ramadhan, S.IP had an occasion to study in Paris, France, on 25 July – 1 August 2015. They gained a lot of experiences particularly in language and cultural aspects. Having the experiences, Puthut and Fahri will foster WP UMY, moreover; new academic year will begin.
In an interview on Saturday (15/8), Puthut stated that he obtained incredible experiences in France especially dealing with the French language exposure and interaction with French native speakers. Both of them also studies French at Alliance Francaise Paris 5 days, but 4 days intensively, from 09 am – 1 pm. “We got unbelievable experience in learning French. This experience will be beneficial to conduct events at Warung Prancis of UMY. Thus, we will organize an exhibition of our trip to Paris to bring new atmosphere at Warung Prancis of UMY, particularly to welcome new comers 2015,” he uttered.
Moreover, Puthut informed that they will display several original carves from France. “It aims at enlivening the atmosphere of Warung Prancis of UMY. We also had an opportunity to explore Paris by Metro and Tram to visit museums and see French culture in architecture aspect,” he told.
Puthut inserted that, before Fahri and he studied French at Alliance Francaise Paris, both had studied French at IFI – LIP Sagan Yogyakarta that the learning is in line with the standard in France. “For instance, they did not set the audio for listening slower, yet they adjust it as French people’s pace. Hence, it will make us accustomed to French,” he added.
Puthut argued that French is a sexy language since the pronunciation uses nasal cavity (purring). Even though, it seems having harder structures, French makes me addicted eventually. “Hence, all students of either UMY or other universities are encouraged to visit Warung Prancis in their area. They will find out atmosphere of France and will fall in love with it. They may also join cultural or educational events organized by IFI LIP Sagan so that we will get closer to France in art and cultural aspects, However, if they are willing to know the French language, they may come to Warung Prancis of UMY because we have C’est Facile program or initiative French class guided by volunteers of WP UMY,” he informed.
Furthermore, Fahri continued that the C’est Facile program has been conducted since the beginning of 2015. The participants are not only students but also public. “Last semester, we had class on Tuesday at 1-3 pm. They learned French daily conversation. Gaining experiences in France, we expected that WP UMY can develop and be more creative in organizing events,” he ended.
