Academicians of Universitas Muhamamdiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) should have integrity to develop this national. Education degrees may not drive them not to watch their attitudes.
In Yudisium of Graduate School of UMY of period I 2017/2018 on Friday (20/10) at building of Kasman Singodimejo, Director of Graduate School of UMY Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., Peng. Stated that a degree title is not a final goal of learners. “Educations should lead people to be aware of the magnificence of Allah and their duties as caliphs on earth so that they can distinguish good and bad. Recently, many people think that higher educational degrees can be a parameter of someone’s competence. Therefore, individuals of UMY should possess integrity in order that their education will not be in vain,” declared Sri.
He also stated that the graduates can contribute to resolving problems in Indonesia. “The world has moved to the fourth Industrial Revolution that means of production has been integrated digitally due to technology development so that each individual should have skills to compete one another. We are now confronting issues of food shortages, climate change, environment, and population growth. I wish that these graduates can solve the issues can become new Kyai and Nyai Dahlan in their field,” he asserted.
In addition, there was a public lecture on Dynamics of Nat Muhammadiyah’s roles in Dynamics of the People and Nationality by dr. Agus Taufiqurrahman, M.Kes. “You are responsible for contributing to embodying a mission of Muhamamdiyah to develop Islam through undertaking charities and business at the beginning of its establishment. Indeed, each academician of UMY should have integrity as this nation generation,” conveyed dr. Agus.
In the Yudisium, 82 master students and one doctoral student graduated. Students of each master program evenly accomplished their study for 2 years 9 months and 18 days while the student of the doctoral program finished the study for 2 years 9 months and 19 days. In this period, the best graduate and cumlaude title were achieved by Sugiarti from Master of Nursing with GPA of 4.00 and Anjar Nugroho from Doctoral Program of Islamic Politics with GPA of 3.82.
