Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc explained the accreditation of Magister of Nursing Sciences of UMY.

Magister of Nursing Sciences (M.Kep) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) should be proud of the new achievement. It was established in 2011, and M.Kep of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) achieved B for the accreditation on the 7th of December 2014. The accreditation was obtained among 9 universities, which have Magister of Nursing Sciences in Indonesia, and UMY as one of them achieving B.

According to Magister Program Director of UMY, Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc. stated that through Decree of National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) No. 463/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/XII/2014 since 7 December 2014 M.Kep UMY was accredited B, and it would be valid till 7 December 2019.

“Through this letter, M.Kep UMY has obviously been accredited by BAN-PT (pointing at SK BAN-PT). Since 7 December M.Kep UMY was officially accredited B among 9 universities which have Magister of Nursing Sciences,” he told in Magister Program of UMY on Thursday (8/11).

Nurmandi mentioned accredited Magister of Nursing in Indonesia like UI accredited A, UGM B, UNIDIP B. “While, the others as UNAIR, Brawijaya, UNOAD, Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, and University of Respati are accredited C. M.Kep UMY accredited B should be proud since, notwithstanding a private university, it could be equal to state universities such as UGM, which had been accredited,” he uttered.

Moreover, Nurmandi explained that M.Kep UMY achieved the Accreditation of B in the young age, the third year precisely. It was the result of M.Kep’s strategies in enhancing student achievement, infrastructure, and scientific publication, which would carry out continuously. Thus, M.Kep UMY’s accreditation could be similar to the state universities that have had Magister of Nursing Sciences for long,” he explained.

Nurmandi added that what was assessed by BAN-PT comprised of vision and mission of the department, department governance, student activities, applied curriculum, and adequate infrastructure, and publication, so that the accredited departments had accomplished the elements.

“The appraisal by BAN-PT assesses several aspects which are vision-mission, department governance, student activities, applied curriculum, and adequate infrastructure, and publication. We have attempted since last year to accomplish all the aspects in order that we could be accredited B. It affects the increasing of the student number. In 2015 there has been 62 registered students of Magister of Nursing Sciences of UMY whereas it was only 55 students last year. It is the positive impact of accreditation,” he continued. (Shidqi)
