Indonesian Youths Are Invincible

As a part of ASEAN Economic Community, Indonesia needs to have internationally quality human resources and create youth having international competitiveness to achieve Golden Indonesia in 2045.

Host of Indonesia Scholarship Festival (ISF) 2019 Shobahul Arfi stated that many institutions as government, private and foreign parties provide scholarships to support the youth. For instance, Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) shows government’s commitment to develop human resources through offering scholarships for 4,000 people.

Unfortunately, not all Indonesian people easily access the scholarship information. Thus, Cempaka Cooperative under Ministry of Finance organized the ISF 2019 on Wednesday (6/2) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

Bringing a theme of “Integrating Education with Innovation to Strive Indonesia Golden Generation 2045”, the ISF provided information of scholarships as well as diploma, undergraduate, master, specialist, and doctoral programs offered by Indonesian and foreign universities. The ISF presented scholarship providers as Ministry of Education and Culture (Beasiswa Unggulan), Pusbindiklatren (Pusat Pembinaan, Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Perencana – Founding, Education, and Training Center) of Bappenas (Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional – National Development Planning Board of Indonesia), Nuffic Neso, Erasmus+, Aminef (Fulbright), DAAD, and Australia Awards, as well as more than 30 top universities.

“The ISF is addressed to people who are interested in seeking for information about scholarship and pursuing their degree in a foreign university so that Indonesia can compete internationally. Besides, many Indonesian institutions offer scholarships so that it is expected that in 2045, in the 100th Independence Day, Indonesia reaches its glory,” asserted Arafi.

With an event slogan of “start, struggle, and shine,” Arafi tried to embolden 8673 participants not to give up their dreams. Therefore, the ISF provides a scholarships fair and a study aboard workshop, scholarship seminar, start-up and youth empowerment talk show, TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS simulation.

Meanwhile, Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto stated that the ISF suited millennials and was a concrete action by Cempaka Cooperative of Ministry of Finance. The ISF would bear youth achieving scholarships so that Indonesian competitiveness improves. Indeed, UMY would entirely support all activities contributing to Indonesia’s development.

“Ones who come to the ISF possess occasions to reach their dreams so that Indonesia no longer becomes a viewer of international economic development, yet the country is an unbeatable part of the international community,” emphasized Gunawan.

Besides, a local committee of the ISF Ichwan Fuady Falahinur, S.E. told, “The ISF aims to provide access of information about international and Indonesian scholarships. The main purpose choosing Yogyakarta as the venue is because the region is widely known as a city for students eager to pursue their study overseas.”
