Communication Science Student Association (Komakom) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) organized the third Communication Fair (Commfair), a competition of students’ assignments. Awarding Night Commfair was conducted on Tuesday (3/5) at Multimedia room of Communication Sciences (IK) of UMY.

President of Komakom, Iqbal Assyauqi, informed that the theme of Commfair was ‘Reformassiv’, while it aimed at reforming students’ perception on assignments that are only to get scores. “It is expected to raise students’ awareness that their assignments can be competed and can gain awards,” he stated.

The contested assignments were from courses such as Feature and Straight News, Broadcasting and Reporting Techniques, Management of Issues and Crises, Advertising-Making, Documentary Film, Cinematography, TV Program, and Animation.

“The Commfair has begun since 14 April. The schedule is Komakom Futsal Champion, book launching, workshop, bazaar, and documentary movie screening.  On 3 May, Komakom held bridging soft skills for batch 2012 and invited Ismail Basbeth, a Communication Science alumnus as well as an Indonesian director, as the speaker. And, the peak event was the awarding night,” Iqbal mentioned.

Besides, the Department Head, Haryadi Arief Nuur Rasyid, S.IP., M.S. delivered a remark. “The department highly supports the Commfair. It is a way to appreciate students and to encourage students to always work,” he conveyed.
