‘Jurnal Komunikator’ (a Komunikator journal) of Department of Communication Science of Universitas Muhamadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) was accredited by Science and Technology Index (SINTA) of Directorate General of Research and Development of Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). The accreditation was announced through a result of Akreditasi Berkala Ilmiah Periode I Tahun 2018 and the Decree No. 21/E/KPT/2018 on 9 July 2018.
A journal manager of the Komunikator journal DR. Filosa Gita Sukmono, S.Ikom. M.A. informed that less than five percent of 200 Communication Science Departments in Indonesia are not accredited by SINTA. “Alhamdulillah, our journal achieves rank 4 of 6. DIKTI classifies SINTA rank from 1 to 6. Rank 1 is for Scopus-indexed journals, and rank 2 to 6 is for journal always enhancing their quality,” told Filosa in an interview on Friday (21/7) at Neo Awana Hotel, Yogyakarta.
Filosa added that the Komunikator journal uses an online Open Journal System (OJS). “Journal scoring criteria encompass management, a system, punctuality, and publication. The journal management is regularly monitored by DIKTI. The Komunikator journal can achieve the accreditation due to support from various parties such as UMY, Relawan Jurnal Indonesia, Asosiasi Pendidikan Tinngi Ilmu Komunikasi (ASPIKOM), and Asosiasi Pendidikan Ilmu Komunikasi Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah (APIK PTM),” he stated.
