Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018 on 10-13 July invites not only the best 91 teams from Indonesia but also robot enthusiasts, researchers, practitioners, and scholars to participate in the Indonesian Symposium on Robotic Systems and Control (ISRSC). It is an annual symposium as a series of the KRI 2018.

A coordinator of the symposium Eko Purwanti, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D stated that it commences the KRI 2018 since it is conducted on 10 July 2018 at Building of K.H. Ibrahim, floor 5, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). “The symposium is for both participants and non-participants and provides an occasion for university members, researchers, and industries focusing on robotics to meet and discuss various solutions, research findings, methods to solve issues in robotics,” she told in an interview at Learning Development Office of UMY on Thursday (7/6).

Eko added that the university members, researchers, and robot enthusiasts to send their papers, and all participants of Indonesia Soccer Robot Contest (KRSBI) for the humanoid and wheeled division are required to present their papers at the symposium. “The papers are reviewed based on their originality, significance, quality and clarity. Afterwards, selected papers are presented and published on the ISRSC proceeding,” she explained.

The symposium topics encompasses robot soccer, robotic science and technology development, robotic application and engineering, and other related topics. “In detail, the topics are Mobile Robot System, Humanoid Robotics, Behavior Robotics, Robot Learning, Cognitive Robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, Surgical Robotics, Social Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Ambient Intelligence. Further information about the symposium topics, registration, and paper submission can be accessed at kri.umy.ac.id/isrsc2018. Indeed, the paper should be submitted by 13 June. Meanwhile, one of the symposium keynote speakers is from Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) and other speakers are to be announced.

Eko also expected that the symposium can create a community of university members and practitioners throughout Indonesia who care about robotics so that they can share and discuss various potentials, opportunities, and challenges in robotics. “Besides, being a host of the KRI gives pluses for UMY. First, UMY can promote itself in a national level. Second, the KRI encourages students interested in robotics to boost their quality,” she mentioned.
