Two lecturers of Department of Communication Science of Universitas Muhammaidyah Yogyakarta (UMY) Dr. Filosa Gita Sukmono M.A. and Fajar Junaedi M.Si. achieved the best paper award at the 1st Aspikom International Communication Conference (AICCON) conducted at Horison Ultima Hotel, Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. They won over 100 papers from Indonesia and other Southeast Asia countries.
“Their papers are outcomes of research funded by LP3M of UMY. The research was dealing with management and governance of the new Muhammadiyah media in East Java,” told Fajar Junaedi on a release on Saturday (24/11). The papers discussed new perspective on citizen journalism implementation in community media governance as Muhmmadiyah, organizations and communities.
A reviewer team carried out a blind review to select all of the papers. The reviewer team comprised of communication science academicians assigned by Assosiasi Pendidikan Tinggi Ilmu Kominikasi (Aspikom). Afterwards, the best papers would be published on an accredited national journal.
Additionally, speakers at plenary sessions of the AICCON were from Germany, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. The conference ran well.
“We present what we have achieved to all members of Department of Communication Science of UMY and we wish that UMY could remain existing in international levels,” ended Fajar.
