LP3M of UMY Welcomes the Return of Students Performing Community Service in 3T Areas

Staffs of Office of Research, Publications, and Community Service (LP3M) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) welcomed the return 148 students performing community service in 3T (the frontier, outermost, and remote) areas. Conducting on Tuesday (3/10) at a meeting hall of A.R. Fachruddin A floor 5, the welcoming ceremony was attended by Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., Vice Rector for Finance and Assets Dr. Suryo Pratolo, M.Si., Ak., CA., AAP-A., Vice Rector for Student, Alumni and Muhammadiyah Movement Affairs Hilman Latief, MA., Ph.D., Head of the LP3M of UMY. Ir. Gatot Supangkat, M.P., and Vice President of BRI of branch Yogyakarta.

In the welcoming ceremony, the Vice President of BRI of branch Yogyakarta handed over a fund accounted 200 million rupiahs for community empowerment. In his remark, Subandi expressed his pride of UMY students to do the community service for two to three months. He wished that the service could assist the community.

A coordinator of the community service in 3T areas Bachtiar Dwi Kurniawan was also proud of the students divided into five teams performing it in Sebatik Kaltara, NTB Sembalun, NTT Sambi rampas, Berau Kaltim and Kokoda Papua. “Welcome back. We hope that the community service could be undertaken in other 3T areas. We wish that we could commit to foster people’s welfare in line with Muhammadiyah’s mission,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto shared his experience as the supervisor of the team for two periods. He asserted that the community service should always be conducted. The outputs of the community service were satisfying. “Do not be students only declaring that you love this nation but remain silent and do not work at all. You’d better give the proof!” emphasized Gunawan.
