LPTQ UMY Gains a Number of Achievements of MTQ

One of the student clubs of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), namely Qur’an Recitation Institute (LPTQ), won three competition categories of Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ)/ Qur’an Recitation Competition organized by Al-Qur’an Studies of University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Saturday (4/6). UMY’s team succeed in Hifzil Qur’an (Qur’an memorization competition), Tilawatil Qur’an (Qur’an recitation competition), and calligraphy competition There were 270 participants of 42 universities.

“LPTQ of UMY achieved the runner first up of Hifzil Qur’an of 10 juz, the third runner up of Hifzil Qur’an of 5 juz, the fourth runner up of Hifzil Qur’an of 1 juz, the winner of Tilawatil Qur’an for male category, the winner and the second runner up of Tilawatil Qur’an for female category, and the first runner up of calligraphy competition,” mentioned Sutan Kumala, a supervisor, in an interview at Office of Public Relations and Protocol (BHP) of UMY on Friday (9/6).

The winners of Hifzil Qur’an were Syahid Rabbani for 10 juz, Mukarramah Itsnaini for 5 juz, and Salma Karimah for 1 juz, while the first-place winner of Hifzil Qur’an of 10 juz was Richo Dwi Permadi from University of Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed). “The winners of Tilawatil Qur’an were obtained by Ahmad Nabil Mubarak and Nur Ulinuha, and the second runner up was gained by Mauli Ardani. The calligraphy competition was achieved by Ahmad Fandy Tumboimbela,” Sutan informed.

A theme brought by the MTQ was ‘Creating creativities within innovations and achievements with Al-Qur’an’. Chairperson of LPTQ, Zulfikar Amrinata, stated that the participants of UMY were selected in Tilawatil Qur’an in February. “They are top 2 of the selection. They will join national MTQ competition. They will be supervised from the experts,” Zufikar told.

Zufikar expected that LPTQ of UMY may always obtain achievements in local, national, and international MTQ. “I am proud of them. I wish that the competition can motivate them to be ‘Unggul dan Islami’ students as UMY’s tagline and to love Al-Qur’an. The achievements may also encourage this university to enhance the integrity as an Islamic university,” he hoped.
