In order to celebrate its 39th anniversary, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta held a series of activities. One of the activities is a book writing workshop. The book writing workshop was aimed at UMY students and was held on Thursday (13/2) at the Worldwide Youth Cafeteria, UMY.
The workshop was filled by Dr. Ahmad Sahide and Dr. Junaedi Fajar, and was joined by dozens of enthusiastic students. “The UMY Calling workshop was conducted to celebrate UMY’s 39th anniversary, with the aim of promoting literature among students,” explained the chair of the UMY milad committee, Dr. Faris Al-Fadhat, Ph.D. Faris added that this workshop aims to publish the students’ books to celebrate UMY’s anniversary.
The major theme of this book writing workshop is Merdeka Campus initiative, with four small themes namely, Students and Literacy, Student 4.0, Is Organizations Important?, and Dear Campus. During the workshop, the students learned to develop ideas in essay writing and how to edit their grammar.
“The output of this workshop are the books written by students which are expected to be the first step for UMY students to produce more writings,” concluded Faris.
