Muhammadiyah Multimedia (MM) Kine Club of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), focusing on audio visual, successfully conducted Kineidoscope 2017 on Tuesday (17/5) at auditorium of Institute Français Indonesia (IFI) LIP Yogyakarta. It was an annual event of MM Kine Club to launch their members’ work, and has been organized three times.
Their work includes films of documentary, fiction, and docu-drama (documentary-drama). “Insya Allah, members of MM Kine Club of UMY always produce films with various genres, and the Kineidoscope is an appreciation night for them. Besides movie screening, in the Knedoscope participants and film directors also had discussion,” told Aldi Bayu Putra, a Communication Science student of UMY of batch 2014 as Chief of MM Kine Club.
There were three films played in the Kineidoscope 2017. First, the film entitled ‘Kelingam’ directed by Anisah Pangrutiningtias, an International Relations student of UMY of batch 2014. The film told the relationship between a father and his son. Second, a documentary entitled ‘Bukan K tapi U’ telling a figure of Kartini nowadays was directed by Muhammada Fatur Albashori, a Communication Science student of UMY of batch 2012. Last, a docu-drama film entitled ‘Toedjoeh Kata’ was directed by Bayu Seto, an International Relations student of UMY of batch 2013. It told a history of an Indonesian hero, Ki Bagus Hadikusumo.
Indeed, ‘Toedjoeh Kata’ and ‘Bukan K tapi U’ got an award. ‘Bukan K tapi U’ was the second runner up of Wonosobo Documentary Film Festival 2016, while ‘Toedjoeh Kata’ finished the second place of National Muhammadiyah Student Art Week (PSMPTM) III 2017 for docu-drama film category.
Additionaly, a film entitled ‘Turah’ was produced by Fourcolours Films, an independent film production house. The film gained three award categories, namely Geber Award and Netpac Award in Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF), as well as Asian Feature Film Special Mention in Singapore International Film Festival.
