The establishment of new admission office of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) was officially announced on Tuesday (13/12) by Vice Chancellor I of UMY, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. It would be constructed near parking area of A.R. Fachruddin B. The establishment
Gunawan stated that the establishment had been discussed since years ago. It aims at encouraging internationalization of UMY in academic sectors and accommodating the number of prospective students of UMY increasing each year.
“Overseas universities possess high international standards in academic aspects. Constructing a new admission building is a means of fostering the academic fields and providing good services to local and international prospective students,” Gunawan declared.
Besides, Vice Chancellor III of UMY, Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, Ph.D. told that the building will consist of three floors. “The ground floor functions as parking lot of motorcycles, the first floor will be used as information center, student admissions center, service center, and payment center, and the second floor will be employed as staff rooms, Computer-Based Test (CBT) room, server center, archive room, and partnership room.
Sri mentioned that the admission building is predicted to be accomplished for eight months. The establishment, in fact, also engages several lecturers of Engineering Faculty of UMY.
“It is conceptualized as green building with efficient and environmentally friendly air conditioner. It involves a Mechanical Engineering lecturer of UMY, Mr. Agus Jamal, and lecturers of Civil Engineering of UMY,” Sri said.
Afterwards, Wall of Fame of UMY was also officially announced by Vice Chancellor III, Dr. Suryo Pratolo, M.Si., Akt., CA, AAP. Sri asserted that the Wall of Fame denotes historical documentations of UMY’s achievements. “It displays UMY’s awards such as QS Star Ranks, Green Campus, and other national rewards,” Sri explained.
