School of Nursing (PSIK) of Unviersitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has cooperated with Temasek Foundation, Singapore since 2012. The cooperation aims at enhancing the quality of teaching and learning at PSIK. In the cooperation, Temasek Foundation recommended PSIK of UMY to also cooperate with health care institutions to support its visions. Thus, PSIK of UMY selected RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta as its partner to conduct joint programs.
In an interview during Evaluation Visitation of Training and Cooperation Programs of Temasek Foundation with UMY and RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta on Friday (8/1), Head of PSIK Sri Sumaryani, M.Kep., Sp., Mat. stated that the joint programs were the development of syllabus and the change of scoring system. “Besides, programs by the health care institution focus on the improvement of health care. The programs have been proposed to Tamasek Foundation, and this foundation will evaluate the programs every month by visiting this university and doing interview regarding the impacts of the programs on the students and community,” Sumaryani explained.
She conveyed the programs began from providing training for eight academicians of PSIK of UMY. It was leadership training and visiting hospitals in Singapore to find out the hospital programs. “After the training, Temasek required PSIK of UMY to hand a proposal program over which the department also had to cooperate with a hospital to undertake the program so that the department could foster learning quality,” she told.
Besides, Temasek Foundation has decided the schedule to visit UMY and RS PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. “The evaluation will be conducted on April or May 2016. In the health care institution, parties of Temasek Foundation will interview patients and doctors whether the programs bring good impacts on them. In the educational institution, parties of Temasek Foundation will interview students and Rector of UMY dealing their knowledge of programs of PSIK of UMY and the program impacts.
The programs, in fact, concerned with not only the development of learning and teaching system but also the implementation of joint programs with Temasek Foundation in Mini Hospital of PSIK of UMY. “Hospital of UMY did not have a facility of patient safety, but it is now provided for the need of the programs,” Sri Maryani ended.
