Registration for Public Lecture by Dr. Zakir Naik Is Closed

The registration for a public lecture by Dr. Zakir Naik was officially closed on 30 Maret 2017 at 3 p.m. It was announced by the Chief of local committee of the Indonesian Visit of Dr. Zakir, Naik Nasrullah, S.H., S.Ag. MCL on an interview on Friday (31/3).

“The online registration is closed. We are now distributing an invitation letter.  We provide a quota of 6,000 for the public lecture by Dr. Zakir Naik,” told Nasrullah, who is also a lecturer of Faculty of Law of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

Based on data on 30 March at 10 p.m., the participants of the public lecture are from various backgrounds. “The quota of 6,000 comprises of 5,500 registered participants and 500 invited guests. The participants are from 34 provinces and different religions. Most of them are Muslims, but some of them are Christian, Catholics, Hindus, and Buddhists,” mentioned Nasrullah.

Enthusiasm toward the public lecture comes from not only Indonesian but also foreigners. “A number of foreigners staying in either Indonesia or their home country have registered for the public lecture. They are from Australia, Thailand, Palestine, Malaysia, Slovakia, and Libya,” he added.

Dr. Zakir Naik will deliver a public lecture on ‘Religion as an Agent Mercy and Peace’ on 3 April 2017 at Sportorium of UMY. The preparation itself has been 90 percent. “We have conducted a simulation of all divisions. Another ten percent is technical aspects to be done on D-Day as the venue, Sportorium of UMY, is still used on Sunday morning so that we can commence to prepare for the public lecture in the afternoon,” told Nasrullah. He also informed that public can live streaming the public lecture on www.media.umy.ac.id.

Nasrullah expected support of all people so that the public lecture can run well. “Dr. Zakir Naik arrived in Indonesia last night (30/4), and he is now in Jakarta. May the public lecture run as we plan,” he said.

Additionally, the local organizing committee of Dr. Zakir’s visit at UMY maintained that during his visit to Indonesia Dr. Zakir Naik will give the first public lecture at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung on Sunday (2/4). “Afterwards, Dr. Zakir Naik will go to Yogyakarta on the same day in the afternoon. On Monday (3/4), He will give a public lecture at Sportorium of UMY,” he told.
