Six PKM Teams of UMY Pass to PIMNAS 31

The 31st Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (PIMNAS) is conducted on 28 August-2 September in Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). There are 440 teams from 136 universities in Indonesia competing at PIMNAS 31. 6 of the teams are from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

Division Head of Student Creativity and Reasoning Development of UMY Oki Wijaya, S.P., M.P. informed that the six teams participate in four of seven Pekan Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) categories. “The four categories are PKM-Kewirausahaan for teams of FUR-CRAFT (Furniture Craft) and SETUAN (Sendal Sepatu all-in-one); PKM-Karsa Cipta for teams of Kompor Alai (anti lalai) and DOSCA (Dosimeter Co Card Alarm); PKM-Penelitian Eksakta for a team conducting research entulded ‘Pemanfaatan Pumkins dalam Substitusi Medium Perbanyakan Tanaman Sarang Semut secara In Vitro’; and PKM-Penerapan Teknologi, MIMI SEHAT (Miring-Miring Sehat, Bed Pintar Untuk Tindakan Pencegahan Terjadinya Pressure Ulser di Perawatan Rumah Sakit),” mentioned Oki in an interview on Friday (3/8).

Participation of UMY at PIMNAS 31 escalates compared to that of PIMNAS 30. “Only four teams passed to previous PIMNAS. The increasing number of teams shows that UMY efforts and innovation to supervise and enhance students’ quality worked well. One of the attempts is organizing a Creative Idea Competition by Student and Alumni Development Office (LPKA) of UMY,” told Oki.

“The competition is for freshmen of UMY and aims to find out potential students for the PKM. Selected students will be trained to write a research proposal, choose a topic, and others so that they can pass to PKM,” explained Oki.

Oki also said that UMY entirely support students interested in developing their capability in both academic and non-academic areas.
