Students of UMY Empower Community by Providing Training in MOCAF Making

Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) associated in a team of KKN 164 empowered community in Kedungrejo, Kemusu, Boyolali. They conducted training in MOCAF (modified cassava flour) making.

The training was conducted since most of people of Kedungrejo are planting flour so that they have a lot of cassava stocks. Chief of KKN 164 of UMY Sholeh Wahyu informed that the training was organized on Sunday (26/8) in Kadus I of Kedungrejo.

Sholeh expected that the training could be a village-owned enterprise and developed so that the moccaf can enhance people’s welfare.

“The training was initiated since we saw many cassava crops which are not managed to be high value products. The cassava was immediately sold in a market,” told Sholeh on a release on Saturday (1/9).

The training was addressed to housewives in Kedungrejo. After the training, they were hoped to be able to practice what they gained at home because the mocaf making used simple ingredients. “The mocaf can directly be marketed so that it can give income for them and it can be consumed by themselves,” said Sholeh.

The training was joined by tens of people looking enthusiastic. At the training, participants immediately practiced making the moccaf. “We have provided the training and we wish that the next KKN team can give training in how to market the moccaf. Thus, understanding of how to make and market the moccaf may also increase people’s prosperity,” asserted Sholeh.

Meanwhile, a supervisor of the KKN team Adhianty Nurjanah appreciated the program. “May the training benefit the people and improve their welfare. People of Kedungrejo annually harvest cassava and a goal of this training is that they can make the moccaf,” expressed Adhianty.
